Pugapoo (Pug & Poodle Mix)

In honor of National Mutt Day, DogTime is celebrating mixed breed dogs across the country. In this series, we’ll be exploring some of the most popular  mutts — both mixed and designer. We’ve already featured the Puggle and the Labradoodle and now it’s the Pugapoo’s turn in the spotlight!
The Pugapoo is a cross between two popular breeds: The Toy or Miniature Poodle and either a fawn or black colored Pug. True to their parent's reputation, this hybrid is friendly, intelligent, playful, and inquisitive. This adorable designer dog makes an excellent family pet for adults with older children and other pets. They are best suited to live inside as apartment pets or smaller homes without yards with just one walk per day to get enough exercise. The Pugapoo is a hybrid dog breed that was created in the 20th century by crossbreeding a Poodle with a Pug. While there isn't much known about how the Pug, Poodle mix came into existence and why they've become so popular in recent years, we do know that they will inherit traits from both their parents' breeds. For example:

Pugapoo dog training is not hard. In fact, it's pretty similar to pug training, which we'll get into in a bit.
There are some things you need to know about this mixed breed before you bring them home though. Like all dogs that live indoors and spend most of their time with their humans (such as any dog), they can be prone to separation anxiety if they feel alone without their pack leader around. This means that they may cry or bark when left alone for long periods of time.
If you're looking for a quiet companion who isn't going to require much attention, then a Pugapoo might not be right for you! If however, your lifestyle allows for more playtime with your pooch than others do theirs then this could be right up your alley!

The Pugapoo should be groomed every week with a brush, comb and other tools. The dog's hair can be kept short with a clipper or scissor trim. If you choose to keep their hair long, it is important that you brush them daily to avoid tangles and matting. The Pugapoo sheds very little and has an average shedding rate of 2-3 times per year.
The dog should be bathed weekly in order to remove any excess dirt from its coat as well as prevent dry skin conditions such as dandruff or dermatitis caused by excessive dryness in the skin due to lack of moisture on its outer layer.

The Pugapoo is known to get along well with other dogs and animals, especially other small breeds. They don’t seem to mind cats, but they may chase them if they are bored or playful. The Pugapoo is also good with children; the parents of this mix said their daughter was very gentle with him and he loved being around her. They said he was very sweet and friendly towards other people as well. He was not aggressive in any way towards strangers or people in general.

The Pugapoo is not a purebred dog. The term "purebred" refers to dogs that are born from two parents of the same breed and/or type, meaning that they share the same gene pool. However, when you cross two different breeds together (like your own Pugapoo), this process is called breeding or breeding out because you are taking something from one breed and adding it into another breed. So, if you have a Pugapoo puppy, then yes—it's true! Your dog will be mixed with both pug and poodle genes in their DNA but they will never be considered "purebred."

As you can see, the Pugapoo is a very appealing pet. They might not look like they would be as smart as they are, but once you get one it will grow on you fast. They’re loyal, loveable and devoted to their owners. They also have an excellent temperament with children and other pets in the house because of their friendly nature, which means that having this dog around won’t cause any problems whatsoever!
